“Brand Allure” is a new segment on this blog where I give my humble opinion on the products I own from a one brand. This way you can get a better sense (hopefully) of where to spend your money, what to trust and what to avoid and what to buy immediately. I decided to start with an upcoming make-up brand – ZOEVA.
If you found yourself addicted to beauty channels on Youtube you’ve definitely heard of this german brand. Zoeva was founded by Zoe Boikou in 2008 and you can only find it online, they became known initially for their brushes but they are growing exponentially due to the “youtube phenomenon”, they knew how to take advantage of a good relationship with vloggers and bloggers and now every make-up lover has heard of Zoeva. Regardless of their marketing strategy being on point, the truth is that they have good products, with beautiful design and great prices and you can’t beat that.
If you love make up you understand the importance of good make-up brushes, they should have the right size, the right type of hair, so that they’re soft on the skin but also able to grab and apply the product the best way possible, and they must never shed any hairs on your face ruining a perfect finish.
Zoeva brushes seem to have all of that, they are very, very soft, they have amazing sizes that adjust perfectly to their functionality and they are freaking beautiful, where can you find rose gold make up brushes that work perfectly? You couldn’t until now. Zoeva is best known for their make-up brushes but they recently started having eye make-up, lipsticks, blushes and bronzers.
Fun fact – Zoeva is named after Zoe (a Greek word for life) and “Eva”, the first woman.
I own the Classic brush set plus three other brushes, the 232 Luxe Classic Shader, the 221 Luxe Soft Crease and the 114 Luxe Face focus. I decided to buy my first eyeshadow palette from Zoeva and opted for the new Nude Spectrum Palette.
(from left to right)
228 – Luxe Crease
221 – Luxe Soft Crease
227 – LUXE Soft Definer
142 – Concealer Buffer
232 – Luxe Classic Shader
230 – Luxe Pencil
317 – Wing Liner
125 – Stippling
128 – Cream Cheek
105 – Luxe Highlight
114 – Luxe Face focus
The 228,221 and 227 are my favorite eye brushes, they’re used to blend eyeshadow and they have different hair densities and shapes, the first two are more rounded and perfect to softly blend eyeshadow, the 227 is more flat so it helps define colors.
The 125 stippling brush is perfect to apply my cream bronzer or foundation, it leaves a beautiful finish. The 128 cream cheek is a true delight to apply blush with, it’s very soft. My favorite face brush is the 105 luxe Highlight because it has the perfect shape to apply highlighter on the top of your cheeks. I searched everywhere for a brush like this and couldn’t find it. It’s a Zoeva Must-Have!
I love all the brushes and have a use for all, I wash them regularly and I can only point out that blending brushes (washed even more often) are loosing some of the shape.
This Nude Spectrum palette is the latest eye palette around, this one is inspired by the desert and is full of earth tones. I chose this over the Warm spectrum and Cool Spectrum because these are the color that are most flattering to me and it’s perfect for daytime looks. The palette has five matt eyeshadows that are perfect crease colors, the other eyeshadows have a satin finish, there’s no glitter here. The eyeshadow formulation is parabens free, oil free and they have amazing pigmentation and are very easy to blend.
If you are considering to buy a Urban Decay Naked Palette you should know that you get three more colors in this palette and the Naked color selection does not top this one. This Spectrum Palette is also only 35€, can you beat that? No.
