Resort 2017 season is here and there’s one show we have to talk about, the Louis Vuitton’s show.
Most houses are inspired by the holiday spirit in Resort season and tend to take a trip somewhere exotic in the world to present their collections. Niterói in Brasil was the city chosen by the Louis Vuitton team, more preciselly the site of the Contemporary Art Museum designed by Oscar Niemeyer. This astonishing building was designed by the arquitect to house the museum but you end up getting the feeling that maybe, just maybe, Niemeyer also inteded it to be the perfect location for a runway show, just take a look at the pictures and you’ll understand it.
Let’s talk clothes! Nicolas Ghesquière gave us one of the best shows last season, in the FW16 collection you could already feel the athletic inspiration behind some of the clothes but in this new season this aesthetic is very much present in an overwhelming way. Like the Chanel Resort 17 collection presented in Cuba, this collection was also full of references to the culture of the country where it was presented, the nation of football and the host of the 2016 Summer Olympics. There was no escaping it, sportswear is the big theme of this collection, especially motosports uniforms, there are a lot of cute overalls and checkered prints. Strangely you also get some looks that feel almost bohemian, with suede and flower prints. Summing up, Ghesquière gave us a colorfull collection with a futuristic and sport spirit that contrasted with the incredible natural background.
